About Me
Hi, I'm Mehrdad Jafari Raad, an Iranian-born Composer and Sound Designer, currently based in Toronto. I work across various mediums, focusing on film and audiovisual projects, while also composing concert music and electronic music.
My musical background lies in traditional Iranian music, and I'm skilled in Tar and Setar performance.
I earned my M.A. in Composition from the Art University of Tehran and my D.M.A. in Composition from the University of Toronto.
In personal level I explore themes such as identity and fragmentation, Cultural Synthesis, Power and resistance, Dreams and subconscious landscapes, and human condition.
